Bronchoscopy

Bronchoscopy is a procedure where a bronchoscope is inserted into the airways, typically done under local or regional anesthesia in a procedure room. This technique is used to inspect the respiratory tract and collect biopsies or other samples from affected areas. Common procedures performed during bronchoscopy include endobronchial biopsy (EBB) to sample growths or tumors in the airway, transbronchial lung biopsy (TBLB) to obtain lung tissue, and transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) to collect samples from enlarged lymph nodes.

Bronchoscopy is especially important for managing diseases like lung cancer, sarcoidosis, and interstitial lung diseases.
